The SEX Shows Day - Oct.22, 2011

Hello everyone,
This is my "story" of how it all "went down".
Please note that names may have been changed to "protect the innocent". Let's call them... 'AnArkY' & 'Sally C.'...(LMAO)

I couldn't believe how quickly this all happened to come to be. It all started with messages to a couple of friends in T.O.; asking if they could join me in an upcoming event. It was time for Northbound Leather's annual Fetish/ Fashion show! Their responding messages came back that neither could join me, so we discussed "visiting while I was out there" possibilities.

DISCUSSING DETAILS
It so happened that one had to work a 12 hr shift that started at NOON! This meant no "visiting opportunity door" before the show; it would have to be when she's done work. The other happened to be involved with another sex show for the weekend, and said she would have to "squeeze me in" before she started... at NOON! (Yes, again... NOON!) Which meant our "visiting opportunity door", was open in the morning for brunch. Causing me to have to hang out in T.O. all day, before the evening event. So we decided that I would be part of her "staff", and join her for the day. Just like that...
This is where I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! I was now going to attend 2 "sex" shows this day. WOO HOO!!! I looked forward to this dual visit opportunity! And why not... after all her event was "The All About SEX Show"; and I was showing up in "fetish" wear for the evening event! (^^^)

THE DAY HAS COME AT LAST
I was running late as usual, so I took a cab to the bus. And I got there in time to wait for the bus about 10 minutes. Did you know... Greyhound now does ticket purchases via an 'insert your card & charge' machine (hahaha)? By the time the bus came, I was glad to be close to the front of the line up to get on it... it was chilly. I got on the bus, found a seat near the back, and settled in for the ride! I texted AnArkY & Sally C., to let them know we left the terminal. I then received a text from another friend, whom I was to meet up with for the evening event. Yup, things were now starting to feel like puzzle pieces falling into place!

INTERJECTION: This first "visit opportunity door", was with a friend I had lost contact with for some years. It wasn't until another found her on Facebook, and sent me her link! THANKZ for that Sally!!! So to visit for the first time in years was going to be sweet!

IN T.O.
Getting off the bus, I saw AnArkY coming up to me right away! After a BIG HUG, we headed to the washroom. Our day started with having breaky, and a nice little treat before heading to her place to prepare. THANKZ for that AnArkY!!! She has a nice little appartment, in which we only stayed for about an hour. I found her "living room" to consist of only a pole in the middle. Her living room/ office area was conveniently located in the dinning room space. Very handy to have if you instruct others in the art of "pole dancing".

We headed out to the first event via subway, and our "4 feet & 2 heart beats". Glad I got a day pass, we both got to travel on it - as family (LOVE YA SISTA!!!). When we walked into the Rogers Convention Center, it was BIG and intimidating to this 'location newbie'. I was glad I had a guide to steer me through the masses, as there was another event going on "across the hall" from ours... A Sewing Convention! What a contrast!!! Entering the "All About SEX Show" event was no less overwhelming at first. When we got to AnArkY's "booth", I discovered it was at the end of the same "booth" space as Elite Limo. Since the owner was a friend of hers, we got to throw our belongings in the limo during our time there. THANKZ for sharing Bruce, it was fun to meet you!!!

AT "THE ALL ABOUT SEX SHOW":
Once we got settled and hung out for a bit, I decided to take a walk around. I wanted to get pictures of as many vendors as possible, because as I have discovered in the past... One never really knows what would be considered as a vendor for this type of show, until they are there.
During this journey, I discovered a hilarious contest/ competition going on on stage. The (as I call it) 'Karma Sutra Timed Positions Count Competition'! One after the other, contestants would step up to use the blow up doll. This was no ordinary contest, and that was no ordinary blow up doll. The blow up doll was actually in a sitting with arms out position, for easier use. (LMAO) The contestants had to show how many positions they could think up while timed! I caught a few, before venturing off to continue my vendor pics journey.
As I finished the room I turned to the stage, and discovered a fashion show going on. So of course I got some pics of that too. Then I returned to AnArkY's "booth", and discovered her teaching others how to swing around the pole... more pic opportunities here! Yup after all that, I think we were due for some ice cream! It was overpriced, but sooo YUUUMMY!!!
It was 7 PMish, and I had a bit of time yet before I had to go. So when she had a "dead zone", we got to hide out in the limo for some peace & quiet... WICKED!!! THANKZ for that!!!
The time came to leave this "visit opportunity doorway", but I was not sad. Because not only did AnArkY know Sally, but she also happened to live close to her. So we arranged to visit with Sally together, after my evening event. Thankfully AnArkY walked me out, to the side of the building I needed to be on for catching my bus. Otherwise, I would have been lost in the building (hahaha). THANKZ for that AnArkY!!!

CHANGING OF THE VENUES
I had a bit of a hike to get to the bus stop, so I wasted no time. I think it only took me about 5 minutes to get there, when it would have normally been at least 3 minutes more. WHEW!!! Good thing too, when I got there it showed up within a couple minutes! I jumped on, and thankfully it was the only transportation I needed to take to get there. While on, I texted to catch up with the others whom I was to meet up with next. They were still "on board"... WOO HOO!!!
After I got off the bus, I was walking across a store parking lot when someone spoke to me out of their car window. CREEPY!!! He asked about my limping, if I was going to the show, and if I wanted a ride. SUPER CREEPY!!! Then he explained that he was going there also, and that he was just waiting for his mistress. STILL CREEPY!!! I replied that I didn't think so, and walked away into the store. When I came out he was still there, and as I spoke with him again his mistress showed up. They seemed to be genuine nice people (so I followed my gut instinct about them), and took them up on the ride offer. Turned out I was right, they were "safe" to get the ride from and I made it there without any problems. PLEASE NOTE: Normally I would NEVER do this, and I DON'T suggest it!!!

I found I had arrived too early, and was once again waiting in line... this time outside. Many around me thought I was freezing; but it wasn't too bad, as I was well prepared with layers! We probably stood out there for about a 1/2 hour before being let in, and there was some confusion of which doors to go in. I got sent to the wrong door of course, and had to return to the original door I was at. Oh well, at least I was there!!!

AT NORTHBOUND LEATHER'S "RAPTURE" SHOW:
The place was pretty empty at first, and I had some pic. opportunities with a few before it got busy. I made sure to hand out my business card to those interested in seeing their pics I was taking, and found I had to write out some more. While I did so, the place got busy "in the blink of an eye"! I found myself finding 'space pockets', as I "steered" through the crowd to get another beer. It was still too early for the fashion show, so I went to dance... and it was good. I stopped to reply to some texts, and had the misfortune of my phone running out of time on me. So I could no longer text AnArkY & Sally C. on my phone for later (BOOO!!!). I'll have to hope my other friends show up, and that I can use their phone when the time comes. (^^^)

When the fashion show started, it was 11 PMish. I got some pics, but they were quick moving models once again. Then just when I finally have a good place to stand... my camera DIED!!! I NEED a better camera for these shows, I tell ya (hahaha)!!! So that was the end of taking pics for this fashion show (again... BOOO!!!). As I stayed where I was to watch, the show lasted about another 1/2 hour - hour perhaps after this. It was a little "contravercial" with the guy getting nailed to a cross; but otherwise I'm not disappointed, and it was a GREAT show!!! LOVED the combinations of materials used for their fashions, as it was not ONLY leather! And although I personally would alter/ merge/ change some of the style aspects of their outfits, I LOVED most of their fashions!!!

Once the fashion show was over, I got another text from my friends showing up. I couldn't answer it, so I had to wait to find them in the crowd. Lucky for me, it wasn't long before they were right in front of me! WOO HOO!!! From here we hung out, I 'danced my face off', and time ran away on me like "Cinderella at the ball" once again. Next thing I knew I had missed texts from both AnArkY & Sally C., and it was already too late for me to catch my last bus to Sally C.'s place. Got another text stating she would be up until 3 AM for me. I found I had ran out of money for a cab, and the limo wasn't going to be showing up until then. So I knew I wouldn't be making it to visit with Sally C. this trip (soo sorry Sally), and I borrowed the phone of my friend 'Pelvis' (as I call him) to text her. I am still sad to not even have been able to say "see ya next time" in person.

By the time the limo showed up, I was definitely getting tired and glad for the ride home. Glad to have the opportunity & the space in the limo for me! The ride home was peaceful, and it was nice to catch up some more with my friends. THANKZ for that!!!

Yup, all in all the day was one BIG ADVENTURE with some great friends I miss when they're not around. I think I need to make T.O. trips more often than just once a year... "Where there's a will, there's a way", and I'll find it!
I'd like to thank everyone involved with the success of my safe travels, warm & comfy visits, and otherwise! Without you, it could have been a LOT worse! You know who you are!!!

Until next time darlingks...
Take care & Safe travels!!!

An UrbanEx-perience June 12, 2011

WICKED "RAVE" REVIEWS!!!... For UrbanEx Masquerade Fundraiser Ball June 12, 2011

Hello everyone,
Today I am happy to bring about this MUCH needed awareness!!!
I have been recently following this group on FB called "UrbanEx" (short for Urban Excursion), as I really appreciate the things they do. What caught my eye at first was their motto "Change the world, by changing you". What a GREAT motto!!!
This is an adventure I won't soon forget!
BACKGROUND INFO.:
It all started with an invite to their "Masquerade Fundraising Ball". The event listed that they were taking donations, so I offered a painting. I gave Em the chance to choose from what is already online, and informed her that any "went" could only be copies. Originally she had a hard time picking and responded with 7 to choose from. Out of these were 2 that could not be given; as one was already gone, and the other was part of a 7 piece tree I have yet to finish. So I told Em that if she really wanted one of these 2 in particular, then I could paint a copy for her. She chose the piece from my 7 piece tree.
I started the painting (later than I wanted to) on the Monday before their event, and worked on it during the days while my little Zack was at school (except Monday night I worked on it also). It took me 5 days to finish all the details, and I posted progress pics for Em to take a look at.
Once that was done, I had to figure out what to wear!!! Talk about feeling like Cinderella getting ready for the ball!!! lmao I started Friday night with the outfit... I knew I wanted to wear something "frilly", and that unless I wanted to wear a tutu, I had only 2 options. A dress that I needed to fix/ alter, and a skirt that I've worn as a dress on a few occasions. I chose the skirt due to the time limit. I have multiple pieces I could have worn with it, but the "bra & undies" set that was on it's hanger was just too priceless not to wear! So I worked around them & the skirt to come up with my character for the event.
That was: 'Alice the whore - from Whoreland'!!!
I chose this character for a couple of reasons:
1. To symbolize the fact that in Life, we are all "whores"... I say this in the sense that we all are trying to "pimp" ourselves to others; with our offerings of business/ "services", opinions/ beliefs, and even with just ourselves to be accepted by others. For without acceptance, we are all feeling "left in the gutter" to die.
2. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favourites. As her character is a metaphoric one that shows us that we MUST face the things we fear. For conquering our fears is the path to positive changes. Something we all could use a reminder of.
&
3. I am known amongst some of us as the 'Info. whore', so using her with the bra & undies worked sooo well! How did it work, you ask? See the event below...
NEXT...
The mask... do I use one I have, or do I go see what Kerri's got for sale down at "Rare Funk"? I'll have to go down and look into it...

I decided to check my emails, and found a message regarding bringing in my painting. PERFECT opportunity to go down to "Rare Funk", and introduce my friend's daughter to it at the same time!!! So I brought the kids with me down to the "Little Bean Coffee Bar", and had some lunch with them while there. I was pleasantly surprised, to find they had a puzzles, games, and colouring books section! Great for keeping the kids occupied while I ordered lunch... THANKZ for that!!! Once we were done, we left to continue our journey... BUT WAIT!!! I forgot to pay the bill!!! So I went back in... lmao Thankfully she understood, and even gave me a discount for the kids' meals! WICKED!!!
Finally outside in the fresh air, I found the kids where I asked them to wait... wonderful!!! We took our time taking pics out front with them among the flowers, before crossing the street and continuing on our adventure.
When we got to "Rare Funk" I discovered that Kerri had only 2 masks left in there, as the rest were with her for the event. So I decided to grab a WICKED little item I found in there by "Cherry Delight Designs" and go. On the way home, my friend met up with us, got her daughter, and gave us a ride home. WOO HOO!!! Thankz for the ride!!!
Once at home again, it was time to get busy figuring out what mask...
I looked in my inventory, and picked my "best candidate" for me to "pimp up". It was one that I have previously 'comfort tested' and worn out before. Seeing how Zack was with me, we chose one for him also. I brought some sequins, feathers, and other materials/ tools out to the kitchen for some craft time with Zack. By now Zack was getting tired, so I did the applications for him. He was a good little helper with picking colours, and deciding the design. Mine was finished close to supper, and I got to sit for a couple minutes with Zack too. WOO HOO!!! Great to know I'm prepared with 'Step 1: "What to wear"' (not meant as a "plug" for the show... lol). As for the rest of my '4 Step Process', I'll figured it out while I got ready.
Onto... THE EVENT!!!
The day finally came, and I was already behind schedule for getting ready!!! I had no time to eat supper by the time I had called a cab; and as I finally got everything (including myself) together, I realized that I had to call the "Little Bean" and ask them to "HOLD THE BUS!!!". Thankfully Katherine was on the other end to assist me... WHEW!!! The cab FINALLY showed up, and I was "off to the ball"!!!
I got to the bus in time to find others had called to hold it too. While we waited, I got on, went to the back, and said "hello" to those around me. I found them to be delightful!!!
Once everyone was on the bus and it started moving... we talked about various things in the art world, and then I got down to business writing up my business cards on the bus!!! That's right! I WRITE out my business cards, and yes it's usually on a bus (the city bus)... lol
It wasn't long before we were in T.O. and finding our way to the event!!! It was an exciting night, you could feel the energy in the air as we entered the building. At the event's entrance we picked a number to sign in with, and use for the silent auction. It was a long lofty room with big windows, and a bar at the other end. Richard Garvey was at the mike, welcoming us with his great vocals & guitar sounds. I started with saying hello to Kerri, and looked at her masks for sale. Then I continued on to look at the auction items... They were WICKED!!! Many donations from various artists, including Em & Kerri themselves... GREAT TO SEE!!! I totally had to bid on Kerri's mask, and an abstract painting of Marilyn Manroe!!!
The evening got started with Mike Farewell, and continued with some spoken words, poetry, and more music... some WICKED INSPIRATIONS!!! While I was "mingling" I got to enjoy some of us that attended, and found my bra to be a great "ice breaker" for those more shy than myself. Like Poison Ivy's "love dust", the bra was "hypnotic" across the room - literally, and so... intentionally. Yes, the 'Love Hypnosis' I sent out across the room actually seemed to work on the crowd!!! LMAO
This worked out rather well for me later, as I went around the room requesting pics of everyone's mask (I LOVE masks!!!). Among some of which, I felt free to "be the whore" and ask for their contact info. They all said yes - HUGE SMILES HERE!!!
I also suddenly heard my name announced, and found that I had won the costume contest... weird, I didn't even know there was one. Well... WOO HOO!!! I won!!! LMAO So then there was that awkward... "Oh! Am I suppose to come over there...? Oh, I am... Ok..." LMAO I think that's actually what I said too... lol So I went over and accepted my prize... It was a framed "Untitled Acrylic on Photograph 30cm x 45 cm" pic. by Christopher Miguel Rich! I like it actually, for the "cohesion" of the 2 (acrylic & photography) is simple, yet inspirational itself.
As the evening came to a close, so did the silent auction... I checked my bids, and was happy to see that I won on them both!!! WOO HOO!!!
Then the "ado" started...
As I was waited to pay for my auction wins, I noticed the atmosphere was almost "hectic" as everyone paid for their auction wins, said their good byes, and left. I "attempted to pay" (apparently... lol), I rushed out to not miss my bus home... only to suddenly hear a tapping on my back (bus window). It was the manager of the hotel staff for the event, and he was holding up my bill... HANGING MY HEAD HERE... I had forgotten to pay my tab (again)!!! I got off the bus right away, and took the manager's arm with my profound apologies. Informing him that it was NOT my intention at all!!! Once that was paid and I was back on the bus, we headed back home to K/W... WHEW!!!
On the bus there was discussion of food, and I was up for it!!! However, once we got off the bus, it was just Joseph & I that were still up for eating. So we went for food at "Morty's" in Waterloo, as there isn't much open on an extremely early Monday morning. It turned out to have huge yummy burgers!!! Thankz for bringing me Joseph... it was a nice 'getting to know ya session'.
All in All...
WHAT A NIGHT!!! Met GREAT people & heard WICKED words/ songs/ music, had a 'TON O FUN', got to dress up and leave town, got to "role play" (via 'Love Hypnosis' & 'Info. Whorism'... lmao), won a prize for best costume & BOTH auctions I bid on, was forgiven for not paying my bill!!!, got to go out for dinner with (& got to know a bit) Joseph, and even got a ride home!!! Talk about feeling like I made off "like a banshee"!!!

Until next time...
Take care & Safe travels...
& WILD WICKED WISHES!!!

'A Mystery Character Adventure' - June 29, 2010

'A Mystery Character Adventure'(0629101145PMishC.E.S.)
A.K.A. Halloween Calendar Shoot 2010 - Day # 2: My Big Back Yard!!!

First I would like to say... That if it is a good turn-out for interest & showing up to do these calendar shoots this year; I may do this Halloween Calendar idea again next year, or even perhaps annually. But that is yet to be decided.

It has been long overdue to spread things out enough for others to be able to explore for themselves in my creativity room. And last week I finally got some much needed shelving. WOO HOO!!! Due to this I have yet to reorganize certain drawers of items to find Halloween decorations, and was unfortunately not able to decorate my yard. With that being said, I continue with the details... lol

Today was the first day of my Halloween Calendar shoots, and I was the photographer due to allergies of my usual photographer. And although the weather was not exactly in our favour and so it was a small turnout, we had fun regardless.

It was a tornado of wigs, costumes, and accessories between both my creativity room and my bedroom as people got ready for the pic. taking... LMAO I assisted as best I could until it was time for me to start paling out Sheyenne. Thankfully some of us are not only good with being able to explore for themselves, but also take over for me with assisting and taking some pics during it all the comotion!!! WOO HOO!!! We were just missing the tunes... lol As others around me started being ready, I took them out to my yard with my big plastic tombstone... a bit cheasy, yes... but effective for pics none the less... lol

Who was photographed:
Sheyenne M.: We started with Sheyenne as soon as I finished her paling. While I was taking her pic., we decided to start with 3 different poses for each person. She did well as a Bat Faery, and I told her... if she ever wanted to model, she now has a bit of experience. I also asked if I could "splatter her all over my wall"... and she agreed... lol

Shannon Sm.: Next up was a little "ham" we all know and love... lol She seemed to know what to do almost naturally, and gave us some good shots as a Vampire!!

Rob Gr.: Went as ?... Worked very well for him, as he held out the cape, posed in the V, and rescued a tree!!! Great job holding up the tree, & nice scientific discovery there Rob!!!

Amy: A shy one at first, but still looked stunning in red velour!!! Nice to meet you young mistress of the night!!!

Vicki Po.: A shy quiet type... that didn't seem too "into it", but still managed to have fun... and got some GREAT "2 friends hangin' out" shots!!!

Zack S.: Didn't want to dress up, but still wore a back pack onto the scene... I guess he just wanted to dress as "Explorer Zack"!!! Got some cute shots of him both by himself, and with others!!!

Chris S.: Yes, I was captured during paling, pic. taking, and even did an intentional shot or two... not dressed up, due to being the photographer for the day.

All in all there were a few set backs, but it was still a successful day!!! Thankz to everyone that came out to do this with me today, and I hope to see more of us out next round!!!
My BIG THANKZ goes to:
+ Sheyenne for make up assistance & camera.
+ Rob for pic. taking assistance & camera.
& Everyone that came out today!!!

A Round-to-it Night - June 12, 2010

Tonight was a night that I planned to go to a FEW different events with my friend Rob. Before which we decided to visit with another friend along the way. This was a good visit that didn't take too long, and we found that we may meet up with them later.

So then we were off to the first event: "KWLT June One Acts". It ran from 8 - 11 PM, and was at the KW Little Theatre - located at 9 Princess St., Waterloo.

This was a fun event, that consisted of 3 separate skits. The first of which was "ANGEL vs DEMON a one-act comedy... ". Now this WAS your classic argument between good and evil, but it had an unexpected twist to the tale... it took place in a court room. A LOT of fun to watch!!! Of course I began my picture taking almost as soon as it started, but I'm afraid I disturbed the women in the seats in front of me with the noises my camera was making as I did so. To those women, I send my apologies. The next was about 2 detectives that like to stop and shout out a motto, and then go back to the scene as if it never happened. And of course, they got their bad guys in the end. The third skit started with an evil man who liked to monologue to his side kick, while they were imprisoned. ALL were very funny, and a pleasure to watch!!! I would CERTAINLY do it again.

The second event was to catch a local fav... Third Plain playin' at The Hive. When we got there, the band "Loaded Dice" were playing. They were pretty good, I liked their heavier tone. Shortly after saying hello to Ivan L, I was informed that he was possibly playing with them in the near future. Along with our friend from earlier, a few other friends were here as well. So I took the opportunity, to introduce all those who didn't know each other. When Loaded Dice were done their set, and tearing down, it wasn't long before Third Plain went on. Unfortunately by this time we couldn't stay much longer, and only stayed for maybe 5 songs before stepping out. Definitely earlier than I would have liked, but it was nice to visit regardless.

The third event was The Boathouse for Mary 5E!!! I have never been here for an event before, which is really weird because I actually live on this block. .And so it was time to actually stop in for a beer, and to do a little socializing. As I walked up to the building & entered, I could hear Mary 5E on stage. Wicked to hear her!!! Unfortunately the lighting was dim, so her pic(s) are dark. Otherwise, I enjoyed seeing some other friends out here, andI had an interesting meeting of another. Then I took the opportunity to take some pics, and even saw some ducks come up on the edge of the boat loading dock... "Hello Duckies"... lol

The last place was none other than my "home away from home"... Club Abstract. I LOVE THIS BAR!!! It has PLENTY of space in different rooms/ areas that you can sit and enjoy the music & views!!! And of course a HUGE KICKIN' dance floor, plus an open-to-air flow smoking pit/ patio!!! We bought a beer when we first got in, and then hit the dance floor!!! As usual I was out there until I was waaay too warm, and had to go to the pit to get some air!!! Saw some more friends here, and got to say "Hello"!!!

After all the running around, I must say it was definately worth it!!! I got to see several friends in each location - including some playing live, and I got some excess energy out via dancing!!! GREAT NIGHT!!! Thankz to everyone for the invites, and to Rob for coming out!!!

Tri-Pride 2010 - A Roos Island Adventure

Today was the day of the Tri-Pride Event that all of us volunteers looked forward to since the first "Meet & Greet" on April 28/10. It started at noon, and ended at...?
I made it for about 1:45PMish, and found where I was to "tend a booth". Once there, the lady I was stepping in for went for lunch. It wasn't very active at my booth, but I got some great pics. while there. Once she returned, I hung out for a few more minutes before leaving to continue with the pic. taking!!!

I started at the end of all the display tables, and worked my way down the line (apparently I was going the wrong way... lol). Once done with the Silent Auctions Display tables, I continued down the line and crossed over to the entertainment. Unfortunately, I really MUST bring myself a little chair to sit on... lol Got some GREAT pics. of a FAVORITE skit!!! (Battery change here) And got to get some more "vendors" booths before leaving the main entertainment area. Then I ventured out, to start on the rest of the booths.

As I looked down the path I thought, "we've got a LOT of booths going on here today... let's hope my camera lasts". I started to contiue down the line, doing both sides at the same time. This only worked until I found some areas that were like entering into the area of a bay window... lol That's ok though... found some friends here. Hello Megan Goos (U Rock recycled clothing), Kate & Gord (Mom's Tattoo Shop), Roller Derby Girls, etc... As I finished the 2nd "bay window area", my camera batteries were dying once again. Now for the 'Quick aim, turn on power, click, turn off power' game with my camera... HOORAY!!! It worked for getting the rest of the booths!!! But just bearly... LOL

After which I returned to the main entertainment area to take some more "crowd shots", and discovered some unexpected friends. Nice to see just as I'm about done here... lol
Unfortunately covering the "Who's here at booths" aspect can cause missing out on the entertainment somewhat, so I didn't get many of those pics. Maybe next year I'll get there earlier for both, and I will actually have a chance to go home to download some pics. before it all starts. As I have discovered my camera's pic. holding limit to be around 250... lol

All in all, it was GREAT to see sooo many coming out to attend, and support this Event!!! And I will gladly volunteer for next year also if they need me.

An Adventure @ My "Home" Bar

Welcome to the place I like to call... "My Home Bar"... CLUB ABSTRACT!!! MY KINDA PLACE!!! Why might you ask? Because it has more than five different areas to hang out in, lots of art works to amuse the mind, a large sunken dance floor, plenty of optional seating, lots of room in the "wide open feeling" of the outdoor smoking pit, and a large parking lot!!! And OF COURSE, the staff are WICKED!!! So of course I am bias, and do feel spoiled here... lol

Now as for the event itself... I just want to start off by saying that it was ABSOLUTELY FAN-F&*!%KIN'-TASTIC to see some LIVE ENTERTAINMENT again here!!! And to add to this fabulous occurrence, we had the BONUS PLEASURE of seeing some local talents that we know!!!

WHO PLAYED:
Dead Hour
Third Plain
Puncture Vine

ALL GREAT BANDS!!!

As I walked in about 10 PM I found not many had arrived yet, and things were already set up. So I took advantage of the situation, and started taking "before" shots" with my camera!!! Glad I did too, it got busy pretty fast after that - perfect timing (lol).
As others were mingling with one another, I had more photo opportunities for merch and band members. I gladly took them, and asked for pics of others. I thank all those that obliged, and allowed me some pics. I hope you like them.

It wasn't long before the bands started to play, and when they did the crowd was almost instantaneous. As I came "onto the scene" for pics, I noticed who else were taking pics - nice to see a few of us!!! I even managed to get a couple of pics of them too... lol

First up was Dead Hour, who is a 5 piece band with a darker style of clothes and music.
They are:
Vocals Kristen Carter
Guitarist Jane Hung
Guitarist Shane Oatman
Bassist Ivan Latendresse &
Drums Jason Head

I have seen them before at "Fat Cats" on Hazelglen, when I was unfortunately only able to attend briefly. What I heard then I liked, and what I heard this night was even better!!! GREAT to hear it!!! Thankz for joining us on the dance floor!!!
-------------
A little extra DEAD HOUR info.: Debut Album "Interlude" was released in early 2009
new lead singer Kristen Carter (previously Robyn McNair)
Guitarist Jane Hung (brought to the band: "Run to Dead Hour" - turned into a somewhat darker song, although I think it has retained most of its original energy.”)
Guitarist Shane Oatman (has three separate musical projects - main band, Dead Hour - also a graphic designer)
Bassist Ivan Latendresse ("our image is really just us being true to ourselves" & "isn’t meant to exclude anyone" & "fans at our shows from two to 62")
Jay
darker elements also come across in Dead Hour’s visual image,
Dead Hour plays an acoustic set this Saturday from 7:15-8 p.m. at the Cambridge Arts Festival. Go to www.cambridgeartsfestival.com for further details. Right after, they perform a full electric band show at the Boathouse in Kitchener starting at 9 p.m. For more info, go to www.myspace.com/deadhourmusic.
+++++++++++++++++++++

Next up was THIRD PLAIN... This 3 piece band are more of a heavy rock sound, with a more laid back apparel.
They are:
Vocals & guitar Victor
Drummer Elvis Raposo &
Guitar Jared Kingsley

They have been well known amongst many of us Abstract goers, and has been together for some time now - if memory serves me correctly. As some of us may even remember hangin' at Jared's "back in the day"... lol
They were rockin' the house nice & loud back then, and they did it again here at the club tonight!!! I also noted that Jared likes to perform without shoes... lol
+++++++++++++++++++++

Last up was Punture Vine... This 3 piece band is on the more twisted side of things.
They are:
Vocals Hayley Ordiway
Vocals Sylviane Leblanc
Keyboard Jeff Carter

And they opened with a premier of a 3D video on the big screen!!! I actually got some great pics while it played... WOO HOO!!! After which I got some pics of them on stage... They were a heavier almost gothic sound, with a male keyboardist, and 2 female vocalists. Unfortunately I also did not get to ask them for pics, and the pics I did get were a pretty dark few.
Sad to say I had to leave a little early, so I didn't get to see the rest of their performance... maybe next time around.

Otherwise I wanted to say... I look forward to catching you all again!!! & Thankz for some GREAT sounds everyone!!!
HUGE SMILES ALL THE WAY AROUND!!!

An Unexpected Fashion Show - June 12, 2010

Hello everyone,
I just want to start by saying, that I really enjoyed this little adventure that happened so unexpectedly. The night was originally a "plan option" we chose, that began our adventure in T. O.!!! However, things didn't work out, and we happened to hear an advertisement for this place at just the right timing. So we went to where 102.1 FM - The Edge (Radio) broadcasts from on a sat. night... The Pheonix Nightclub - 410 Sherbourne St.

I have been here before on numerous other occassions/ events, so I already knew what it was like inside... It has a large room with most of it being the dance floor, and fair sized smoking pit - unfortunately the fence is high, and you feel little air in there. Sad but true... lol None-the-less, it is MY KINDA PLACE!!! GREAT music, dance floor space, 3 bars to assist with your drinking demands (lol), and conveniently a large parking lot across the street... such easy access, it's almost a shame (lol).

The adventure here began before we even parked the vehicle... My friend Robobert was hangin' out with me this night, and he was also the designated driver. It was as we were pulling into the parking lot, and he was at the machine for purchasing parking passes. He was short a little change perhaps (not too sure on the details there... it was a good night... lol), and some guy was nearby that decided to pay for the pass for him. Kinda weird... Something about Karma here too, seeing how we couldn't find the previous event choice's address to park nearby... Apparently Robobert calls him "The "Karma dude"... who paid for the parking!!! THANK YOU KARMA DUDE!!!

So then we parked, got prepared with a greatly appreciated smoke break, and went in. The place was busy as usual, and of course they were kickin' some killer tunes for a busy dance floor. After getting a drink, we went to find somewhere to sit - which is pretty scarce in this place. So we decided to stand for a bit and I scoped the room. After my beer was 3/4 done, I decided to kick it on the dance floor. I don't tend to really dance with others even when I am actually dancing with them... so my friend knowing this, just let me take off to be in my own little realm.

I began to make my way towards the speakers through the dance floor, and decided to finish my beer before I started to boogie. After about 6 songs I saw Robobert make his way over to see how I was doin'. We decided to take a break and go to the pit for his cigarette craving... lol As soon as we neared the bottom of the steps, I saw a old friend leaning around others to see me, as if he wasn't sure if he was seeing things or just not sure if he knew me or not. We went and with him while we were out there. It was a nice visit, it's been a while and I had forgotten how witty he can be. It was also just before an Event in K/W that was hosting some of my art (along with others), so I brought it up. Apparently he already knew of it due to knowing at least one of the owners, and coincidently was actually suppose to be attending it for assistance sake. So of course I took the opportunity while we were chatting, to be as I call it "A phone number whore" (actually recently changed to be called "An Info. Whore"; which now includes emails, websites, etc...). He obliged by writing it down in my note pad for me. THANKZ!!! Muuuaaahhh!!! Then after prob. another 5 minutes or so, he left.

We went back in to dance & drink some more, and then after probably about an hour... to my suprise... What did we discover... AN UNEXPECTED FASHION SHOW!!! Yes, suddenly there were hot dancing girls up on stage to intro. the show!!! WOW... OK, I'm game!!! And I even had my camera with some batteries with me... great to be prepared!!! As I positioned myself off to one side, I found it got crowded fast and I was beginning to need to relocate... lol And so I did, but it was a quick showing of each dress/ garment. Thus unfortunately I did not get a lot of them from a front viewpoint, but did still get some good ones; so I'm happy. I think the show only lasted maybe 1/2 hour if that, and then it was done just as sudden as it had started. Kinda felt like I was in a "Twilight Zone" episode really... lol

After this we didn't stay too much longer, because it was already getting late and we still had to drive back to K/W. I think it was actually around 12:30 when the fashion show started, which is really odd to be sooo late if you ask me... butt of course it's all good to me. LOVE fashion shows!!! Glad we chose to go here instead really... I got to hang out with a good friend outside the usual "comfort zone", chat with an old friend, enjoy some great tunes & boogie with people that don't know me, and leave at a semi-decent hour... I think it was probably about 1:30 when we left the bar, but I could be mistaken.

It was a fun night that I have done before, and of course will do again. Thankz for joining me (and driving too of course) Rob!!! We'll have to do it again some time with some others along for the fun too... lol
